Sorry it has been a while since I have posted. Linnie has been sick and it has thrown everything off. Sunday we talked about Genesis26:12-14, where the Bible says that Isaac “waxed great, and moved forward and became very great”. The key to that verse is the fact that Isaac moved forward. He was great because of the blessings of his father, Abraham, but because he was willing to move forward and make some changes then he became even greater.
Before we can do great things we have to be willing to move forward. We have to be willing to make changes in our life and accept those changes. Though I don’t believe in change just to change, I do believe that there is a need for change from time to time. For example we thought about changing the name of our church which has been South Decatur Church of God for over 40 years. We discussed it and even debated (in a Godly way) and then we ask the question, “Why do we want to change it? and What will changing it do for us?” The conclusion was that changing the name was not what we needed but what we needed was a change in method of how we did somethings. So we have begun to change our methods and our ideas of ministry. In doing so we are seeing results. We are moving forward because we want to be very great.
