Bio of Pastor Jay

 

” I am the husband to the most wonderful woman in the world. Linnie is beautiful inside and out. She is a God fearing women that I have loved since we were teenagers. She is my partner in every way. I am the father of three wonderful children Ashley, Chay, and Alivia. They have brought me great joy in my life and they have challenged me to be a better man. I am now the paw-paw to five wonderful grandsons Jaron, Tristan, Killian, Alaric, Cohen and a beautiful granddaughter Reese, and I love all of them more than I can express. I also have two Sons-in-laws, Joshua and Chance and a daughter-in-law Jericha that I love as my own. I am also the Lead Pastor to some of the most wonderful people in the Kingdom of God here at South Decatur Church.”

Before becoming a full-time Pastor, Pastor Jay was a successful businessman. He managed in the VAP corporation for over 15 yrs. He has served as a pastor since 1994 when he was one of the youngest pastors in the  Church of God in the state of Alabama. He holds the credentials of an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God which is the highest rank of ministry in the organization. He is a graduate of Lee University, where he earned a degree a Bachelor of Theology.  He has earned two master degrees, Masters of Theological Studies and a Master of Christian Ministries in Leadership from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary.  Pastor Jay has served as the Lead Pastor of South Decatur since 2004 and has seen the church through a major building program, remodeling, and growth. Pastor Jay has a heart for people and is a very passionate preacher. He has a gift for speaking the Word of God in a way that reaches out to every person in the congregation.

“My wife Linnie and I, consider ourselves a team in ministry and in life. Together it is our honor to be able to serve the Lord in building the Kingdom in Decatur Alabama. We consider ourselves to be blessed to be able to lead such a great group of people. Our ministry is about Loving God, Loving People, and Serving in our Community. Our goal is to do everything we can for the kingdom of God until He comes. Our task, our vision, and our responsibility to the gospel will never be final, and so we do all that we can to serve the Lord.”
